The other day I wanted to give a try on making a wheel in 3D, so I began to look for references in the web and finally I ended making a whole bike using blender 2.60a, as always. This is the final result (you can make the image bigger if you click on it) :

I chose something futuristic and with a nice design. In this case it's a variation on the Oryx; I changed something, like the frame, that I wanted to be more curved. I made two more renders so you can see the model from other perspective (bottom-back and front-up) :

It was also an exercise in bleder with rigging, the wheels rotate, as the handlebar, the pedals and the brakes, as you can see in this short animation:

I have added the first image to the 3D galleries"Others" subsection.

I hope you like it. See you.

Wallpaper for bodhi linux made with blender 2.60a. The other day I was surfing the web and I found a 3d model of Buddha and I thought of using it on a wallpaper. After trying different things I made a base of lotus petals. With the petals and the buddha model I rendered two images, one with the normal textures and other with the petals in wire mode. I mixed both with the gimp and this is the result:

This image is based on the work "De profundis" by Miguelanxo Prado, a story that was the base of an animated movie and a comix, or better said, an illustrated tale with beautiful images. I went to the local library and found it by chance. When I opened it, an Island lost in the see with a house and a tree was the first picture and I found it lovely. So I decided to try to do it in 3D using blender.

If you got the chance to see the movie or get the comix, I recommend you to do so. A great piece of art.

If you clic on the image you can see it at a higher resolution (1100x688). I have added it to the 3D galleries, "Others" subsection.

I hope you like it. See you soon.

Wallpaper for bodhi linux created with blender 2.59. This time I've been working with UV mapping in blender (that's to apply a bitmap image to a mesh) and investing more work in modelling to make this fan. I used a real fan I got at home as a reference.

Talking about the bitmap images I've used to create the textures, the landscape is a photograph by Orin Zebest of a painting made by Li Huayi, a chinese artist born in 1948. The photo is licensed under Creative Commons being mandatory to give the attribution to the author, so that's already done. The image used for the fan's cloth was taken from a wallpaper, I don't know who is the autor. The image used for texturing the floor-background was taken form plaintextures website. All the bitmaps were edited using the Gimp.

And this is the image:

New wallpaper for bodhi linux created with blender 2.59 and post processed with the gimp. This image was made mixing two different models created with blender. The first one is the wall of slabs; the inspiration came form a comic called "the eyes of the cat" by Moebius and Jodorowsky. It's a short story where Moebius draws a lot of buildings, taking special care in the architectural side. The second one is the mandala, a research on repetitions in blender.

None of them by themselves were good enough for my taste, but today I've merged both files and I've obtained an interesting render. Later I've been working with the render image in the gimp, and after adding some layers I've got this final result:

New wallpaper for bodhi linux made with blender 2.59. I've been watching recently an exhibition in the Fine Arts Museum of Bilbao called "Sacred Gold, pre-Hispanic Art in Colombia". It has 253 objects, but one of them called my attention; it was a pin with palm tip, perfect in its simplicity.
This is a modified version with roots, something to celebrate the new 1.2.0 version of bodhi.
